Reports of floods in Kazakhstan have literally flooded the Kazakh news feed. It seems that the officials are the most shocked, as they had no idea that snow melts in the spring and turns into water.
Renowned political analyst Daniyar Ashimbayev ironizes on this topic on his Telegram channel:
«In Soviet times, a republican commission for flood control was regularly created at the beginning of the year. Extensive experience was accumulated. You can read in Kunayev’s memoirs how he worked in such a commission during the war years. Institutes and the meteorological service worked, and there was constant preventive preparation. By the beginning of the flood season, all necessary resources, including the military, were mobilized.
And now we have a буйство «effective managers», specialists in corporate governance and strategic planning. We see growing crises in energy and communal infrastructure, water resources management, and combating landslides, floods, fires, and earthquakes.
I would not blame everything on corruption and nepotism, a кадровая famine and mistakes of predecessors, global trends, and retrograde Mercury. The main reason is irresponsibility, lack of control, and, in general, the lack of a system in state administration in the country.»
